| Background
GIC-Software™, is a division of General
Investments Corporation (GIC), located in Los Gatos, California,
approximately forty five miles south of San Francisco, in the
area popularly referred to as 'Silicon Valley'. GIC has administrative and engineering offices
in Los Gatos, California, as well as engineering development
offices in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, Russia.
It was apparent to GIC that a void existed in the types of
computer games being offered to the public. Computer software
stores have continued to stock multiple types of computer games
devoted to war, killing, Kung Fu, weapons, space aliens, violence,
and sex. Very few entertaining games have been available for
families, young adults, and especially women. It was obvious
that most computer games were designed to appeal primarily to
the reflex abilities of teenage males entertained by game violence.
In light of this, GIC made its decision to develop entertaining
interactive multi player computer games for the family, and women
in particular. GIC established the GIC-Software™ division to accomplish
that goal. It was resolved that GIC would not produce
games that pander to the prurient interests of any particular
group. The commitment was made to develop wholesome, interactive,
multi-player computer games that would be age-friendly
and entertaining for both genders, all family members,
playable in multiple languages and be appealing to as many cultures
as possible. And, play between multiple computing platforms..
GIC-Software™ has succeeded in reaching that goal.It has designed and developed age-friendly interactive
computer family games, and approximately 53% of the players are
women. The games are wholesome, fun to play, and enjoyed by both
genders from ages 8 to 108. The games are new, unique, and different
word games like no others. These are not puzzles. Puzzles
have predetermined solutions, games do not . The GIC-Software™
games are different each time they are played, and the winner
is not determined untill the game is finished. The games can
be played on - and between - computing devices. They play in
all major languages and have been played interactively on-line
by people from over 80 countries.

WHY WORD GAMES?
GIC's market research determined that there exists a well
established appreciation for word games world wide. Words have
a fascination for all ages, both genders and all cultures. There
will continue to be a market for new and modern word games so
long as languages are written.
GIC's interactive, international and multi player word games
address that market. |

The question most often asked is "How do word games
differ from puzzles?" Puzzles have a predetermined solution.
Games do not. Games are played against an opponent and are generally
multi player, and social in nature. Games also offer a competitive
challenge for the players, since the final outcome is generally
not known until the last play has been made.
With the explosive growth in the ownership of many types of
computing devices by people of all ages, and in all countries,
GIC realized that it would be possible to provide totally new
and excitingly different types of entertaining word games that
are only possible with the computer.

In light of this, the games developed by GIC are interactive
multi player games that can be played either by a single player
against the computer, or over the Internet in real time between
players located anywhere in the world - with no delay in play! The games are played interactively between players located
in different cities, states, countries, and different day zones
as though they were physically seated around the same table together.
The GIC games can be played in most major languages, including
English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese Kanji
, Italian and Simplified Chinese.
Word games exist in all cultures with written languages.
They do not go out of style. And they will continue to be popular
in all countries as long as written languages are used.
Americans, in particular, have an affinity for word games.
Daily crossword puzzles and books are found in almost every newspaper
and book store in the country, and word games are enjoyed by
an estimated 80 million people each day. This is not including
those who play word related board games and/or watch word related
games like Jeopardy and Wheel Of Fortune on television.
